The Assassination of Fenwick Thatros

PREFACE

Lordaeron was once the most prominent human kingdom in all of Azeroth. After the Second War between Man and Orc, Lordaeron had helped the ruined kingdom of Stormwind rebuild, but Lordaeron itself was largely unscathed.

A force from the North soon engineered a diabolical scheme to wipe out all of Lordaeron. The Lich King, the spirit of the orcish shaman Ner’zhul, unleashed a magical plague upon the kingdom which turned those it killed into the walking dead. These became enthralled to Ner’zhul’s will and part of his ever-growing army known as the Scourge.

Though Arthas, the crown prince of Lordaeron, had some success in repelling the Scourge, the ordeal eventually drove him insane, and he led the Scourge against Lordaeron, killing his father, the King Terenas, and countless others. He then led the Scourge against the neighbouring elf kingdom of Quel’Thalas where he defeated the Ranger-General, Sylvanas Windrunner, resurrected her as a terrible banshee, and brought their capital to ruin.

Due to an attack on Ner’zhul’s corporeal prison in the far north, his sway over the undead began to falter. One amongst those forces was Sylvanas. She managed to wrest control of her own will back from the Lich King, and then led her forces of freed undead against Arthas, driving him out from Lordaeron. After a brief power struggle with three demons, she won out and took control over the Capital. She named her force the Forsaken.

Over the next four years the Forsaken managed to build up a society from the ruins of their former lives and have since allied with the orcs for assistance against their many enemies.
