Dream's End Part III:
Warrior's Stand
PREFACE
The Emerald Dream is a primordial realm, parrallel to Azeroth,
ruled by the green dragons and their queen, Ysera. Since the
Ordering of Azeroth, the Dream has existed as a verdant, living
duplicate of Azeroth, untouched by civilization and modern
development. In it sprawls vast forests, verdant marshes, and
deep seas, teeming with strange and miraculous creatures the
likes of which have not been seen on Azeroth for millennia.
All the dragons fought alongside the mortal races - principally
the night elves - during the War of the Ancients ten thousand
years ago, and after the Legion's costly defeat, only three
flights remained intact - the red, the bronze, and the green.
The dragons made a pact with the night elves to defend Azeroth
against the ever-present threat of demonic invasion. To protect
the Well of Eternity, the three patrons of the dragonflights
created Nordrassil - the World Tree. Through it, the night elves
would not succumb to death and disease by old age, that they
might better guard the Well from any interlopers.
However the night elves were forced to make sacrifices as part
of this pact. In order to maintain the World Tree, the druids
were to wander the Emerald Dream for millennia, protecting it
alongside the green dragon defenders already within. Ten
thousand years passed, and the druids were forced to awaken and
defend the waking world from the return of the demonlord
Archimonde and his host of demon minions. In the ensuing war,
Nordrassil was sacrificed to destroy Archimonde. The druids now
thrive alongside their waking brethren, but many often return to
the Emerald Dream to commune with the green dragons and
experience a mirror of Azeroth they cannot know in the waking
world.
