BIOGRAPHY
Zandrathis
Sheynathren was born to a line of magi closely tied to the Council of Silvermoon
for generations. However through most of her youth, Zandrathis remained a
footnote in her family tree, as she had little talent with the conventional
sorcery of the time.
She instead
invested herself in technological expertise, an art then undervalued by most of
Quel'Thalas despite its integral role in their military and civilian lives. When
her talents flourished under this new direction, she began to study abroad. She
first attempted an apprenticeship in Gnomeregan but found the gnomes' friendly
optimism disconcerting, and so instead traveled to Stranglethorn Vale to study
under the goblins of Booty Bay.
The goblins'
engineering discipline focused largely on explosives rather than elaborate
devices, however Zandrathis found their education very useful to her, and after
her work in Booty Bay was finished, she returned to Quel'Thalas and began to
oversee demolition operations in mines throughout the kingdom.
During the
war against the orcs, Zandrathis applied her expertise to the battlefield, often
working in conjunction with troop movements and using her explosives to both
confuse and destroy enemy forces. She afterward received a commendation from the
Ranger Corps for her assistance. After the war she returned to the mining
industry, and remained there until the Scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas.
Zandrathis was among the elves enlisted by the Council to travel west with
Prince Kael to battle the Scourge with the remaining forces of Lordaeron. During
this time, she met the blood mage trainee Evindath Sunchaser. They began seeing
each other romantically.
Zandrathis
was originally among the top engineers in Kael's forces, one of Teleconus'
foremost lieutenants, but as the magical withdrawal began to sink in, she became
unreliable and aloof, and was given more minor duties. When the time came for
work, however, Zandrathis was up for the challenge, and assisted in many of the
hastily-constructed automated defenses when the blood elves were forced to flee
from Garithos' forces into Outland.
After they
crossed over to Outland, Zandrathis remained unstable. Evindath came to believe
that her personality shifts were indicative of her having an affair, and their
relationship ended ineloquently. In an effort to curb her appetites and
hopefully appease her, Teleconus advised that she study warlock magics, summon
demons and siphon their energies. She was placed under a group of Darkcrest naga,
and as they helped her learn the dark power of the warlock, she helped them
construct their pump networks in Zangarmarsh. During this time, she came to
befriend the Lady Vashj, who helped her control her demons. Using the demons she
summoned as an energy source, Zandrathis stabilized somewhat, but remained
despondent and depressed.
After
construction of the pumps was complete, Zandrathis was sent back to the Sunfury
elves, where she became the centre of Val'zareq's affections. He pursued her for
some time until she relented and they began seeing each other. Val'zareq proved
to be a demanding lover, and when he chosen to lead the Crimson Sigil and
relocate to Shadowmoon Valley, he insisted Zandrathis come with him. She
refused, and their affair was ended.
The
Netherstorm's chaotic magical energies rendered Zandrathis' teachings on demon
summoning obsolete, and without her supply of magic she began to slip back into
her old depression. When an opportunity arose to sabotage the Exodar in
preparation for an Aldor attack, Teleconus and Vashj both nominated Zandrathis
for the role. She joined Evindath and Fenissa and was sent to complete her
mission.

VENTAXIA
THE SOLEMN
Hawkstrider
Val'zareq the Conquerer prided himself on the breed of his hawkstrider.
She was of a long line of champion hawkstriders, renowned for their jet
black feathers. While Zandrathis was seeing Val'zareq, she befriended
his hawkstrider and thought Val'zareq's treatment of her lacking. In
particular, when his hawkstrider laid an egg, he was furious that she
had fornicated with the other striders, and refused to let her care for
it. Zandrathis took it upon herself to care for the egg until it
hatched. When Zandrathis and Val'zareq went their separate ways,
Zandrathis took the hatchling, whom she named Ventaxia, and raised her
on her own. Due to Ventaxia's early estrangement from her mother, she
has grown quiet and distant. |

BELZARAKU
Nether Drake
Kael'thas intended Zandrathis and Evindath to return as champions of the
Sunfury to Silvermoon. Belzaraku was a nether drake enslaved by a team
of blood elven sorcerers, and he was given to Zandrathis as a
demonstration of the strange and fantastic creatures they had conquered
in Outland. To control him, powerful magical bonds were placed on him,
and forced him to obey the wishes of whomsoever held a corresponding
keystone. To further control him, the keystone also had the power to
transform him into a mere draconic whelp and back again. Zandrathis
often used this when travelling abroad to avoid attracting undue
attention. Belzaraku, however, was infuriated at his imprisonment, and
vowed to have his revenge on his captors. |
