BIOGRAPHY

Narmilath was born in Windrunner Village to a family of rangers. From a young age, however, he decided that military discipline was not for him, and attempted other pursuits. He began to apprentice with a leatherworker in Silvermoon and they prospered for many years. He often worked with the tanner Lorinthiel, and they cultivated a strong friendship.

During the Second War, the orcish Horde invaded Silvermoon and in the ensuing attack, Narmilath's master was killed. When Silvermoon was rebuilt in the wake of the war, Narmilath took over his master's business and made Lorinthiel his partner. They became part of the upper echelons of the leatherworking in Silvermoon, such as they were, and during their careers, were commissioned on multiple occasions to assist in the creation of enchanted armours by the Kirin Tor. It was through this arrangement that they both came to be acquainted with Jaina Proudmoore.

When Jaina Proudmoore came to Silvermoon to warn the elves of the impending doom, scarce few paid her any mind. Though aware of the problems in Lordaeron, many of the elves believed that Quel'Thalas was not in any danger, and dismissed her cautions as sensationalist panic. Narmilath and Lorinthiel, however, knew that Jaina wasn't one to jump the gun, and so, against the wishes of their friends and colleagues, left with her for Kalimdor.

After the Battle of Mount Hyjal, Jaina and her expedition settled in Dustwallow Marsh and founded the isle of Theramore. In the beginning, Theramore was an optimistic paradise of interracial community. Narmilath and Lorinthiel did the best they could, in the sparse swamp, but they were happy even if they had little to work with.

When Daelin Proudmoore invaded Theramore, however, he brought news from the east. The news that Quel'Thalas had seceded from the Alliance and had reforged a new path as blood elves shocked the high elves in Theramore, and Narmilath and Lorinthiel were no exception. After the isle was reclaimed, the humans and dwarves regarded the high elves with minor suspicion.

As time wore on, Narmilath began to feel the effects of his magical withdrawal, and grew brooding and despondent. Lorinthiel tried to make the best of it, but his sociability with the other races only created a schism between the two old friends. One night, they got into a heated argument, with Lorinthiel condemning Kael and his followers while Narmilath defended them. When Narmilath discovered that Lorinthiel had been seeing the a human woman, he was overcome with rage and the argument got physical. In the scuffle, Narmilath accidentally killed Lorinthiel.

Narmilath went on the run, and was eventually captured by a group of night elves who didn't know who he was. He expected to be extradited to Theramore when two blood elves arrived at the Sentinel hold. They claimed Narmilath was a thief and that they had come to bring him back to Silvermoon. After the Sentinels acquiesed, the blood elves - Zandrathis Sheynathren and Evindath Sunchaser - revealed that they had rescued him to secure his debt. They knew all about Lorinthiel, and offered to keep his secret and even give him a magical disguise if he agreed to be trained as a rogue and heed their call when it came. He agreed.

The disguise was not so much a disguise as a transformation. Narmilath was turned into a woman, and she was given the name Neljanke. The blood elves booked her passage back to Silvermoon, where she was expected by the master rogue Zelanis. He trained her extensively, and she came out of his academy as a deadly and efficient fighter.

Neljanke took to the roads and earned her way as a soldier of fortune. She never forgot, however, her debt to Evindath and Zandrathis, and waited patiently for their signal and their charge.

FRIENDS AND FOES

MAGENTA

Purple Hawkstrider

On instruction from Zandrathis and Evindath, Zelanis purchased Magenta and had her waiting for Neljanke when she arrived in Silvermoon. A haughty and temperamental hawkstrider, Magenta gave Neljanke trouble from day one, becoming extremely difficult whenever she tried to stable her in less than perfect conditions. Neljanke, however, was not so easy to sway, and refused to indulge Magenta's superiority complex. If Magenta refused to behave while stabled with kodo and raptors, then Neljanke would lash her to a tree in the rain.

LORINTHIEL

High Elf Tanner

Lorinthiel was Narmilath's closest friend and loyal business partner in Silvermoon. After they relocated to Theramore, however, their relationship grew strained. Though Lorinthiel thought he was overreacting, Narmilath felt ostracized from the other races in Theramore. As a result, Narmilath became increasingly dependent on Lorinthiel, which he in turn grew to spite. Lorinthiel eventually began courting the human girl Decedra Wilham, and Narmilath vocally objected. Their argument turned physical, and Narmilath accidentally killed Lorinthiel in the ensuing struggle.
