BIOGRAPHY

The Grimtotem were a people of war. From a very young age, youngbloods of the tribe were taught that the world was a harsh one, and that the only way tauren survived was through conquest. A Grimtotem without a taste for murder was not a Grimtotem at all.

These were the strictures Asatokwe was raised with. Born into the tribe during the nomadic period before the tauren joined the Horde, Asatokwe learned firsthand the unforgiving nature of the Earth Mother, and in his travels, from battling the centaur of the Thousand Needles to the quillboar of Razorfen Downs, he knew that if his will faltered, he would be killed.

It was after Magatha Grimtotem's rise to power that the tribe began to organize the tribe as a military power. The edict to the tribe was clear: Cairne's unification of the tribes would spell the end of them all. The tauren were the true rulers of Kalimdor, and any ground given to their new allies was a travesty. The Grimtotem took steps to fortify their holdings, and began closing off their territory to outsiders. During this time, Asatokwe was made the bodyguard of Maur Grimtotem, one of Magatha's servants. When Maur was sent to Orgrimmar, however, Asatokwe was transferred into the ranks of Grundig Darkcloud's army.

Grundig leg his forces into Stonetalon Peak, against the Harpyslayer Tribe of Aparaje. Asatokwe first reveled in the battle. To test his skills against his brethren in combat was a stirring experience, one he felt the Earth Mother would reward him for. But after Grundig was defeated in single combat with the tribe's chieftain, Durn, Asatokwe was ordered to kill Durn as he was held fast by other Grimtotem. Though he protested, Grundig was persistent, and Asatokwe killed Durn with a heavy heart.

He was then ordered to escort Inlokta into the woods and kill him. But the guilt of Durn's death overwhelmed him, and Asatokwe turned on his Grimtotem kin, killing them to defend Inlokta. Knowing that he knew too much of the Grimtotems' plans, and that they would not rest until he was found, Asatokwe fled into the wilderness with Inlokta.
